Fire Starters

Philmont’s Initial Distribution Commissary will issue one box of matches to be used for cooking. We recommend bringing a hot-spark or lighters as they will never fail if they get wet. When Philmont does not have fire bans, you will be able to use them to start a campfire.

For starting a gas stove, a flint & steel sparks work great! There is worry about getting it wet because it will always spark!
