Tent Stakes

There are two uses for tent stakes on the trail. You will need them for tents, and you will need them for your crew dining fly. For your crew dining fly you will need a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 tent stakes. Philmont does not provide tent stakes, make sure that you bring your own. Philmont is located on the edge of the Rocky Mountains… There are rocks in the ground. Bring a few  extra stakes in case you bend or brake one.

Any time you are securing a camp structure with steaks make sure that they are in at a 45 degree angle in the ground. If they are straight out, there will be not tension to keep them in the ground.

When you buy stakes, remember that they are the foundation of support for your tent or dining fly. We recommend the Y-beam design because they will not twist or turn in the soft Philmont dirt.
