Bandanas and Handkerchiefs

A bandanna is one of those items that you’ll use several times  a day, whether you’re on the trail or in camp. Even if you’ve never been one to carry a bandanna or handkerchief with you when you hike, break your pattern and bring some to Philmont. You’ll be glad you did!

Bandannas can be used for a variety of purposes–as pot holders while cooking in camp, as washcloths, and for sweatbands when you’re working hard out on the trail. Many Scouts dip them in streams along the way and throw them around their neck to cool down.

These little squares of fabric are cheap, easy to carry, light, and have an almost endless range of uses. They’re a real life saver.
