Personal Satellite Locators (SPOT)

Since opening it’s doors in 1938, Philmont has had to get by for most of it’s existence without any technology. Bringing your SPOT may seem like a great idea. Reality is, if there is an emergency it is going to send your help signal to the wrong place tell the wrong place. Philmont has established it’s own Emergency Procedures to dispatch the proper resources to help you. If you call the wrong people for help, it will take hours longer for Philmont to get the message and even longer for Philmont to mobilize help.
