Philmont strictly adheres to the policy of Leave No Trace, and personal hygiene products are something that can easily go against that.

On the trail, you won’t get much of a chance to wash up, but when you do, you want to make sure that the soap you use won’t be messing with your surroundings. Remember, your crew isn’t the only one to ever  hike through this wilderness, and it won’t be the last by far. So make sure to purchase biodegradable soap. Specially formulated for backpackers, this kind of soap can be used on both your clothes and your body.

And when you do buy this type of soap, bring only a little with you. You won’t need much at all to wash yourself and your clothes while you’re on the trail.
